Though its origin is disputed, the phrase "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" is popularly attributed to Cervantes 1615 comic novel Don Quixote. And while one can talk about a pudding's ingredients all they want, the saying's meaning stays intact when shortened to "the proof is in the pudding" - because that is where you will ultimately find it; if you bother to at least taste it - as it's the results that count.
Which is unlike a 'mathematical proof' obtained by logic alone since one's pallet will sometimes disagree with what one thinks is a delicious recipe. In this sense, the implied dichotomy is akin to Kepler's contribution to elliptic geometry, which per se is independent of experience in the sense that elliptic theorems can be constructed and proven without appeals to any physical phenomena. But in practice Kepler refined Copernicus's resurrected heliocentric heresy of planetary orbits in a manner that just as clearly is non-abstractly physical and empirically testable. Which ultimately is the key characteristic of the 'scientific method' or 'revolution,' soon further cemented by Newton and Galileo's discoveries expressing physical laws by experimental confirmation of their mathematical formulation.
This report accordingly will further pare the phrase down to a "Pudding Proof" that employs multiple means of what a mathematical formula represents, not only being theoretically correct in multiple senses, but confirmed to be correct by a clear correspondence with the most precisely measured empirical value in high-energy particle physics, specifically the neutral weak or Z-boson mass. For the Z's present measured mass value (http://pdg.lbl.gov/2007/listings/s044.pdf) of 91187.6 +2.1 MeV (million electron Volts) is what truly represents the operative meaning of this term with respect to being the ultimate result as 'physical proof' of the following equation and invariant mass for the Z-boson: Z = 91187.633 MeV = 9u1/8 + ms - mb;
though one then doesn't really need to know the mass m of the strange and bottom quarks, or the Higgs vacuum minimum u1.
Likewise, how we obtained these other, presently (grossly) "unknown," values isn't at issue either, though obviously it was not achieved by empirical measure nor is related to this equation. Which isn't meant to squelch natural curiosity, as anyone interested in a history of these discoveries is directed to a preceding article (ezinearticles.com/?The-Meaning-of-a-Precise-Dimensionless-Fundamental-Physical-Constant&id=725742) describing the dimensionless scaling system of physics that generates the gamete of such fundamental physical constants. In any case, assuming I'm not lying (which is just as provable - if any chumps want to make a bet?), these 'unknown masses' contribute to this equation to give the above Z-mass that corresponds precisely with its measured mass average. But then this 'pudding proof' basically refers not just directly to the Z-mass, but more importantly empirically implies that these three 'non-given' or `ill-measured' fundamental masses are just as precisely determined and confirmed as proven mass values as the Z itself!
And though this empirical pudding proof seems unprecedented with regard to the implication of the validity the precision of a parameter such as a strange or bottom quark mass (that can't be directly measured anyway), it certainly remains an outstanding example of the validity of empirical measure as the bedrock of scientific method. For the ultimate strength of the dimensionless numerical scaling system that sets it apart from all other modern theoretical 'models' is evident from the raft of confirmable predictions it makes - and largely are presently accessible in well-tested standard contexts (such as the Z) that require no greater experimentally contrived studies to 'test' whether some "theoretical interpretation" is 'correct.'
Yet in a related regard, the equation for the Z-mass itself represents multiple theoretical proofs that strengthen the outstanding empirical correspondence with the pudding of its measured mass. The first matter in this regard straddles both spheres in that the predominant observed or theoretical decay products of a weak neutral boson are admixtures of bottom with strange and/or down quarks in heavy mesons, and practically is the only known particle that can directly decay to a strange Bs-meson. Which according to our equation consists of a -e/3-charged b-quark with a +e/3-charged strange antiquark - which thus assures the charge neutrality of a Bs-meson. Then over and above these confirmed theoretical considerations with respect to the equation's quarks, there looms the fundamental observations of Peter Higgs concerning the origin of mass in general, and specifically with respect to electroweak symmetry breaking by which the weak Z and W gauge bosons acquire a mass from some mechanism while leaving photons massless. The above equation employs the appropriate Higgs field mechanism best called the vacuum minima u1, which is again generically associated with the '3rd generation' bottom of the -1e/3 'down quark family,' in the same sense that the heavier 'Higgs vacuum doublet' u2 represents a neutral pair of tops of the +2e/3 'up quark family.' (Incidentally cognoscenti, they saw evidence of the 'light Higgs boson' before CERN replaced the lepton collider with the Large Hadron over five years ago, which thankfully will generate the far more fundamental Heavy Higgs scalar - when that pudding is ready to take out of their oven. [So it's a big deal for them, but it's just the basic, strongest set parameter in a real system of numeric Planck-scaling - so knowing its mass is no big whoop, I'd say the Nobel should go to the machine itself - i.e. it should be a bigger deal for everyone and God when they witness baryogenesis {creation of nuclear matter over antimatter}]!)
Actually the above equation is one of two expressions for the Z-mass, as the other naturally involves its relation to the charged W-boson mass. The W itself is the predominant decay product from the heavier 'Higgs vacuum doublet' of a top/antitop pair where convention has the +2e/3 top imparting its +charge to the W in mediating a transformation to a -1e/3 bottom. So once again the Higgs fields impart their mass to quarks and gauge bosons, where each theoretical argument reinforces others (there being further supporting pudding proofs that involve equations for neutral and charged pairs of B-mesons that reinforce the basic equation for Z-mass, for example.) And each theoretical nuance is of course supported by the latest measures of these mass values. But the mathematical form of these equations give insights into theoretical and predictive empirical realms that are unavailable in any other standard theoretical scheme. Example: I'll give a hundred dollars (I'd make it more but care too much to be going broke) to anyone who can find a reference containing the above equation for the Z-mass.
Having established that theoretically it's a perfectly good equation, there should be some possibility it's not unique. But I highly doubt it would ever have been published, especially without any knowledge of these other parameters; that I can safely assume are within my copyrights if just because of the strength of this Pudding Proof demands it. Which brings us back to the basic meaning of this old saying - the results are in the tasting and eating of the pudding. And the bottom line test of this principle after the above equation has been posted for six years on this web of the so-called information highway is this - I've yet to find an individual who is capable of appreciating a pudding full of yummy plums and proofs, let alone anyone who wants to eat any and taste the results for themselves. But real pudding isn't intended for foolish authorities who only remember how to speak with forked tongue, it's made for the likes of you and I who experience the joys of eating or speaking with one tongue - yum!

Disk To Disk To Tape Natural Disasters Raise Data Recovery Awareness
Technology v Nature. The fight still continues without any clear winners. Nature's fury occasionally reminds us of how easily it can overwhelm all that modern technology has to offer, but indomitable man just goes back to the drawing board to come up with an improved solution.
The tremendous advances in data storage technology have been taken for granted by most users for whom the phenomenal growth in storage capacity can hardly keep pace with their appetite for more and more data. At the same time, the high-tech world of computers gives the users a false feeling of invincibility. While data storage devices have become more robust than in the past, the sheer numbers have made data disasters more common than ever before. There are many reasons why hard disk drives and other data storage devices can - and do - fail.
When Mother Nature strikes, as with the recent tsunami that ravaged half the earth or the winter storms that gripped much of North America, it is big news. While loss of life is truly irreplaceable, these disasters affect many other aspects of life. At times like these, there is a heightened awareness about data loss and data recovery. "But the single biggest culprit in data loss is human error," claims Allison Beckley, VP (Customer Service) at Disk Doctor Labs, Inc., one of the pioneers of data recovery. "And a close second is the inherent limitations of the data storage technology itself," adds Tariq Aslam, the CEO of Disk Doctors. It can happen anytime, anywhere, and to anybody. If you deal with data extensively, the odds are you will suffer data loss sooner or later. The important thing is being able to cope with it. And different types of users need to have different strategies for safeguarding their data. A high school student who uses his PC for gaming and the occasional term project cannot be expected to have UPS, tape back-ups and RAID systems. On the other hand, a bank cannot feel complacent that it has protected its database by installing the latest anti-virus software and anything else is overkill. The user profile, the data criticality, available budget and resources all impact the data protection strategy. However, these are some general tips Disk Doctors has for avoiding and surviving data loss:
§ Make a regular back-up of all your important data (including laptop drives)
§ Test your back-ups regularly (especially if it is a tape back-up)
§ Carry laptops in padded cases
§ If it is mission critical business data, store it on RAID systems
§ Use power surge protectors, and UPS systems for critical data
§ Use regularly updated anti-virus software
§ Restrict unauthorized access
§ If you experience problems with your drive, move the data to another drive; don't take any chances unless your data is worth less than the cost of a new drive
§ If you still lose the data, do not panic; seek professional advice
§ Data recovery is a specialized field, and not every computer technician can retrieve data
§ If the data is critical, or if the drive makes unusual noises do not try DIY solutions
§ When you shop around for a data recovery company, don't consider the recovery charges only
§ Look at the company experience, expertise, locations, facilities, testimonials, etc.
§ You should not have to pay an up-front diagnostic fee, or pay for any hidden extras over the quoted price, or pay for the ‘effort' if you did not get your data

Data Backup Tape Tape Cartridges: Safely Handle Your Back-up
Hard-disks are electro mechanical devices and, even though they are very reliable, as they age they will suffer from mechanical wear and will fail. To keep your valuable data safe it is important to make regular backups. Tape backup systems have been in use for many years now and are still the most cost-effective way to store your data. However, as tape capacities increase, the materials used become thinner and the recording density increases. This means that the risks of tape damage are higher as well and a great deal of care in storage, handling and transportation is needed to secure your data, especially if it is the only copy of vital information.
Storage tips.
Experts on data recovery will advise the following to prevent problems with your tape:
• Store the tape in a safe place. Do not stack tapes in piles where they run the risk of being knocked over.
• Keep the cartridges clean. To prevent read/write errors and physical damage, never put a dirty cartridge or a cartridge with a peeling label in the drive. Equally, keep your drives clean and never put a tape in a dirty drive.
• Never expose the tape by opening the door on the cartridge or lifting the flap.
• Never touch the tape itself, not even the non-recording surface. Grease from your skin or other contaminations could be transferred to the recording surface and lead to media decay.
• Never store a tape in areas where there is a high level of dust, or any risk of exposure to corrosive gases or chemicals.
Transportation tips.
Transportation of cartridges should always be in accordance with the guidelines, even if only moving within the office:
• Containers must be tough enough to withstand the rigors of shipping.
• Data cartridges must be held firmly and separated from one another.
• Containers must have internal padding.
• Containers must be clean to avoid contamination to the cartridges.
• A recommended minimum of 80mm gap between the surface of any cartridge and the outer surface of a transport container is needed to protect against magnetic fields.
Take extra precautions for transportation outside the office, especially if carried out by third-party carriers. Always ship it by a direct carrier to make sure that your tape will not sit overnight in a place where you have no control over temperatures and humidity.
Usage tips.
Before using the tape, always check everything. It might seem a little extreme, but imagine what you can lose.
• Let your tape cartridge acclimatize to new environmental conditions before using it, recommended is a 12-24 hour period after transportation into a new environment.
• Each tape has a maximum of duty cycles. Keep a record of the number of times the tape is used to prevent over-using tapes.
If a tape cartridge is damaged it might not be visible externally. If you suspect a tape has been damaged, or you know it has been dropped, and there is a potential risk of internal damage, stop using it. If it is still functional, duplicate the tape to save your data and retire the cartridge but do not attempt to make further use of the tape as even if it appears to be working it may well fail just when you are relying on it. Better to be safe than needing a data recovery from your damaged tape cartridge.

Lto3 Tapes Third Version Tdk Lto-3 Tape Technology
span style="font-family: Arial;">The principal factor that made the TDK LTO-3 is its ability to support faster data transfer speed and huge capacity. The other factors are its clear roadmap and the open architecture. TDK LTO3 tape products offer exceptional output and performance. 800 Gigabytes is the compressed and 400GB native capacity of the TDK LTO-3 tape technology. It has the ability not only to write but also can read data from the LTO2 ultrium cartridges. But the data from the LTO-1 cartridges can only be read and not written by LTO3 format. WORM is a powerful feature of the TDK LTO 3. WORM technology is the combination of algorithms in memory chip of the tape cartridge and unique encoding attributes of WORM in servo tracks along the data tape’s length. This encoding of low level is mastered on media of TDK LTO-3 during its manufacturing. While writing the data sets to the LTO-3 tape, along with them is also encoded the UCI (unique cartridge identity). The physical media of TDK LTO3 is combined logically with identity of cartridge memory by the unique cartridge identity.
WORM mechanism in the LTO-3 tape format makes sure that the data once recorded is not modified. WORM mechanism does not allow anyone to change the data after it has been recorded. So in this way the integrity of the data on TDK LTO3 tape media is ensured. Data tapes are stolen intentionally or lost carelessly every year during their transportation from one site to the other. So the companies should ensure that the vital information on the backup tapes is made unreadable in case it goes into wrong hands. The TDK LTO3 does this job efficiently and secures the information on tape media. The other important and advantageous feature of LTO is the tape encryption that can efficiently protect financial records, trade secrets, Human resource information, consumer information and similar kind of other sensitive information. Organizations can lower the risk of mishandled information with the encryption feature of LTO ultrium and thus secure their sensitive information.
The enterprises are investing more in the LTO3 tape technology for the protection and secured backup of the valued data. The LTO 5 and LTO6 will be available in the market in near by future and reason is that the organizations are looking at better, faster, low cost and efficient backup storage technologies. The backup tape formats also have to keep pace as most of the companies are doing their business operations online so the data must also be available and stored at faster rate. It is important that the high end tape libraries should also have mixed managed media and fiber connection. Therefore tape library should also be efficient and reliable as the disc array.
Maxell LTO ultrium-3 is best for high end servers who utilize Network-attached storage that connect via gateway and have speeds greater than the LTO ultrium-2. Maxell LTO-3 format is perfect and effective for data centers, banks and organizations where the data is in high volumes and they also require obeying regulations like HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel-II and guidelines of Securities and Exchange Commission SEC. The companies should be more cautious about their vital data. Even smallest loss of data can financially hurt the organization to point where they might not be able to compensate and overcome the damage caused by the data loss.

Tape Backup Systems The Vxa Packet Technology Data Storage Media
VXA is a tape backup system utilizing Packet technology to store and retrieve data. With VXA Packets, you enjoy peace of mind with unmatched reliability, speed and capacity.
The VXA Packet Technology offers greater advantage compared to the outdated track-based technology utilized in other tape formats, Packet Technology and VXA drives have many advantages such as the elimination of "back hitching". Back hitching occurs when the data rates between the drive and the host computer system get out of sync - as computers tend to send data in short bursts, while tracking tape drives must transfer data to/from the tape speeds. This means the drive must stop transferring data, rewind, and then move at fixed forward to 're-sync' with the data tracks on the tape.
Since VXA Packet drives read packets and not tracks, the drive can actually match the host transfer rate without back hitching-even to the point where the drive can stop completely, and start up again without ever having to back hitch. This dramatically reduces the wear and tear on the data storage media and ensures greater reliability and longer tape life.
VXA X Tapes are the only tape cartridges extreme-tested by independent labs under the most severe conditions-including violent vibration, immersion in volcanic dust, boiling water and hot coffee, and even freezing cartridges in a block of ice-to assure reliable and complete data restores. VXA is 183 times more able to restore data-even from a damaged tape-than any other tape format. You will find the full range technology tape cartridges including IBM 3480, IBM 3490E, IBM 3590, IBM 3590E, IBM 3570, IBM 3996, SDLT DLT, LTO 100GB, LTO 200GB, LTO 400GB.
Packet Technology enables VXA Packet drives, autoloaders and tapes to read and write data in packets just like the Internet, providing far superior restore integrity, exceptional transfer speeds and scalable tape capacities. With excellent reviews by analysts and data storage media experts, and adoption by major OEMs like IBM, VXA Packet Technology is the new standard in tape backup.
Leading companies around the world have formed and launched the VXA Alliance to promote and support VXA Packet technology as the new standard in tape backup and restore. For more information on how you can buy the latest VXA Packet data storage media please visit www.firscall.co.uk

External Tape Backup Advance Dell Lto4 Tape Technology
Dell LTO4 tape format provides innovative data security features and the tape drive level encryption facilitates the enterprises to preclude the tampering of the information stored on the LTO-4 tape cartridges. The performance of throughput is not affected as the encryption in the Dell LTO-4 tape hardware is done at line speed. Therefore, the Dell LTO4 data tape devices enable the reduction of backup windows with transfer speed of 120MB per second (native). Its transfer rate is almost 50% quicker than that of the LTO-3 tape format’s output performance.
Data density and recording capacity of Dell LTO4 technology is double from its prior version (LTO 3 tape media) and has physical capacity of holding 800GB data. The information technology departments require high capacity, low cost, robust and reliable backup tape media for fulfilling their needs of long term archiving. There may be requirement of authenticity of fixed content in order to comply with the rigid regulation of data retention. It has to be assured that E-mails and media files while stored remain in its original form. It is better and essential that the administrators should thoroughly and carefully analyze the capabilities of backup tape technology before choosing the backup storage medium.
Dell LTO tapes enable offline and low cost backups at remote locations. This portability of data helps the enterprises to restore the data in case of disaster situation on any available platform of hardware. If the original tape drives are destroyed or damaged, even then the restoration of data can be done by other drives. Important and effective role is played by Dell LTO-4 in data centers on basis of its strong attributes of high capacity, data encryption, fast speed and efficient mechanism for protection of archived content. Unparalleled Vxa Tape Media Technology
Advanced error-correction system of VXA tape format is considered as the most sophisticated mechanism in the industry that guarantees sure and complete protection of data. DPF (Discrete Packet Format) technology of VXA tape enables the data recording in harsh conditions, even if the tape reel is distorted or warped due to moisture and damage. This advanced feature assists the VXA tape technology in restoring the information that would not be possible in other tape formats thus resulting in data loss.
Tests were conducted on the VXA tape cartridges to examine their reliability. The VXA tapes can withstand and have the capability to recover data even if they are boiled, frozen or dropped in coffee. For testing, two VXA tape cartridges were taken and 100MB data was recorded on each tape. One of the VXA tape was put in a dry beaker. Then hot & strong coffee was brewed and poured into the beaker containing the VXA tape cartridge. It was completely submerged and then leaved it for 30sec. Then this VXA tape was taken and rinsed with water to washout any remaining sediments of coffee. The tape cartridge was then shaken so that the excess moisture could be removed, and afterwards it was padded using the paper towels.
The same process was repeated using the second VXA tape, but this time the tape cartridge was left for one minute in hot coffee. In order to speed up the drying process, both of the VXA data tapes were kept in environmental chamber for 24-hours. The humidity and temperature of the chamber were fixed at 26% and 95 °F (35 °C) respectively. Then both the VXA data tapes were taken from the chamber and were kept for 12 hours at room temperature. After the VXA tapes had been completely dried, they were inserted into VXA1 drive. The results were really amazing and astonishing as the VXA tape drive recovered all the data from both tape cartridges without any error.
Sharp ice-crystals and the pressure exerted by the volumetric expansion can easily crush and damage the ultra-thin media of the data tapes. Exposure to such conditions will destroy the tape media and it will be impossible for tape drive to recover information from it. But it is possible in VXA tape technology. All versions of VXA tape cartridges are available at lowest best prices. For details visit TAPE4BACKUP.COM.
Like the first experiment, two VXA tapes were again taken with 100MB data on each cartridge. Distilled water was poured into a big, flat container up to 3 inches of depth. Then the container was kept in a refrigerator for one night to freeze it. Then on the ice top, the VXA data tapes were placed flat. The VXA data tapes were then covered with distilled water (up to 3 inches) and then again the container was placed into the freezer. VXA cartridges were frozen solid after 12 hours. In order to accelerate the process of defrosting, the data tapes were moved to an environmental chamber with humidity (26%) and temperature fixed at 35 °C. The VXA tapes were taken from the chamber after 24 hours and kept for 12 hours at room temperature. The VXA data cartridges were then loaded into the drive and once again the results were the same as the original stored information was recovered without any error.
All VXA data tapes can be ordered online from TAPE4BACKUP.COM including Exabyte VXA 11100200 tape, IBM VXA 24R2136 tape cartridge, Exabyte cleaning cartridge 11100209, Exabyte VXA-V 11100100 tape, Exabyte VXA-X 11100206 tape and all other backup tapes as well.

Whether a company relies heavily on database activity for critical everyday business operations or only for select requirements, the loss of data due to technological failure can have far reaching negative implications. The loss of valuable information and records can cause productivity setbacks, lost profits, lost customers and headaches for everyone involved. Aside from the obvious business challenges associated with the loss of data, legislation such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) places requirements on the retention and on request production of certain types of financial data. Companies assume the risk of non-compliance if they are unable to produce information within the specified time constraint required by Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) or other information focused legislation. Database and mainframe disaster recovery is more important in today’s technology dependent business world than ever before.
In the past, many businesses utilized offsite data tape storage as a crucial facet of their disaster recovery plans. Such offsite tape storage entails serious security risks by today’s standards, such as the possibility of loss, theft or damage to the tapes while stored at the offsite location or in transit. In the event of a disaster, the retrieval of information from such sources can waste valuable time, require intensive reorganization by IT professionals and result in financial losses due to database unavailability and customer disappointment. Additionally, scheduled nightly backups often result in periods of several hours during which applications are unavailable to employees or customers.
In today’s information technology driven market, mainframe availability and security are of utmost importance. Fortunately, the need for reliable and efficient mainframe data recovery systems has not been overlooked by innovative enterprise data availability software and service companies. Fully integrated backup and recovery utilities for IMS databases are now available to simplify, automate and expedite the process of recovery without compromising crucial database availability. Such solutions have the capability to, for example, automatically accumulate and copy records on a periodic basis for ease of future retrieval, with some utilities even providing the flexibility of reverting to certain point in time.
Many companies are already discovering the direct benefits associated with such mainframe and database recovery utilities. Eliminating the manual labor requirements and uncertainty associated with offsite tape backup, integrated backup and recovery utilities provide businesses with an easily maintained, reliable and secure means of protecting valuable business data and technology.
